I wish to felicitate with our muslim corps members and indeed all corps members serving in the Sunshine State in particular and the nation at large on this auspicious occasion of this year Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya) festival.
While I am thanking God for making it possible for each and everyone of us to celebrate this year Sallah despite all the challenges we are facing as a nation, I want to implore the Muslim faithfuls to use the occasion to preach love to one another and unity of the country to their fellow believers and by extension those who profess other faiths.
By so doing, the tenets, teachings and preachings of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) would be elevated in our sub consciousness and this will encourage us to live peacefully and harmoniously with our fellow human beings and extend our hands of fellowship and generous hearts of giving to them during this festive season and always.
I want to admonish you to celebrate in moderation taking into cognisance the new Delta variant of the COVID -19 that has been discovered in few states of the country. Do not lower your guards but vigorously intensify all efforts to ensure that all protocols put in place by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID -19 and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are strictly adhered to as you freely mingle with people during this celebration period.
I want to appeal to you all to stay in your various communities where you are posted to serve and observe the Sallah rather than embarking on journey which are not economical at this point in time. Our roads are bad and the highways are full of people with criminal intentions who are out to take advantage of security challenge to perpetrate various and unimaginable heinous acts against humanity.
NYSC will continue to live up to her ultimate responsibility of providing adequate security for the members of the service corps, believing that corps members would reciprocate this gesture by remaining law abiding and patriotic citizens of our great nation, Nigeria.
Barka de Sallah and happy celebrations.
Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani
NYSC, Ondo State.
